On May 21, the airstrikes ended, the rockets stopped and the street fighting between Jewish and Arab Israelis abated as Israel and the militant Islamist group Hamas agreed to a ceasefire, ending the fourth war between them since 2008.

The war and the actions that culminated in it have been discussed extensively. Both sides have, as always, laid the blame for the latest hostilities at the feet of the other.

Sadly, this war and the lead up to it are just the latest entries in a long ledger written in blood and tears.

“Israel.” “Palestine.” One land, two names. Those on each side claim the land as theirs, under their chosen name.

‘Israel’

“Israel” first appears near the end of the 13th century BC within the Egyptian Merneptah Stele, referring apparently to a people (rather than a place) inhabiting what was then “Canaan.” A few centuries later in that region, we find two sister kingdoms: Israel and Judah (the origin of the term “Jew”). According to the Bible, there had first been a monarchy comprising both, apparently also called “Israel.”

In about 722 BC, the kingdom of Israel was conquered by the Neo-Assyrian empire, centred in what’s now Iraq. As an ancient geographic term, “Israel” was no more.

Judah alone

Less than a century and half later, Judah was overthrown. Its capital Jerusalem was sacked, the Jewish Temple destroyed and many of Judah’s inhabitants were exiled to Babylonia.

Following the exile’s end a little under 50 years later, the territory of the former kingdom of Judah served as the heart of Judaism for almost seven centuries (although the rebuilt Temple was again destroyed in AD 70, by the Romans).

‘Palestine’

In AD 135, following a failed Jewish revolt, Roman Emperor Hadrian expelled the Jews from Jerusalem and decreed that the city and surrounding territory be part of a larger entity called “Syria-Palestina.” “Palestina” took its name from the coastal territory of the ancient Philistines, enemies of the Israelites (ancestors of the Jews).

Subsequent to the Islamic conquest of the Middle East in the seventh century, Arab peoples began to settle in the former “Palestina.” Apart from about 90 years of Crusader domination, the land fell under Muslim control for just under 1,200 years. Although Jewish habitation never ceased, the population was overwhelmingly Arab.

Zionism and British control

In the second half of the 19th century, the longstanding yearning of Jews in the Diaspora to return to the territory of their ancestors culminated in the nationalistic movement called Zionism.

The Zionist cause was driven by steeply rising hatred toward Jews in Europe and Russia. Immigrating Jews encountered a predominantly Arab populace, who also considered it their ancestral homeland.

At that time, the land comprised three administrative regions of the Ottoman empire, none of which was called “Palestine.”

In 1917, the land came under British rule. In 1923, “Mandatory Palestine,” which also included the current state of Jordan, was created. Its Arab inhabitants saw themselves primarily not as “Palestinians” in the sense of a nation, but instead as Arabs living in Palestine (or rather, “Greater Syria”).

The State of Israel

Zionist leaders in Mandatory Palestine strove hard to increase Jewish numbers to solidify claims to statehood, but in 1939 the British strictly limited Jewish immigration.

Ultimately, the Zionist project succeeded because of global horror in response to the Holocaust.

In November 1947, the United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution 181, partitioning the land into “Independent Arab and Jewish States.” The resolution met immediate Arab rejection. Palestinian militias attacked Jewish settlements.

On May 14, 1948, the Zionist leadership declared the founding of the state of Israel.

‘The War of Independence’/Al-Nakba

The new Jewish state was immediately invaded by the armies of several Arab countries, alongside Palestinian militants. By the time the fighting ended the next year, the Palestinians had lost almost four fifths of their United Nations allotment. Seven hundred thousand of them had been driven from their homes, with no right of return to the present day.

For Jewish Israelis, it’s known as the “War of Independence.” For Palestinians, it was al-Nakba — “the Catastrophe.”

On Nov. 15, 1988, the Palestinian National Council issued a declaration of independence, recognized a month later by the UN General Assembly. Approximately three-quarters of the UN’s membership now accepts the statehood of Palestine, which has non-member observer status.

Diverging fortunes, constant hostilities

Despite multiple wars with Arab states and militant groups, Israel has flourished. Palestinians have struggled to establish functional governance and economic stability.

In the Six-Day War of June 1967, Israel repelled a true existential threat, routing a heavy Arab military force massed at its borders. Israel’s seizure of East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza during the war has left Palestinians under various forms of painful Israeli occupation or control.

Throughout the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, many more Palestinians than Jewish Israelis have been killed and wounded, in part due to Israel’s advanced military capability but also to the well-documented Hamas strategy of situating command centres within civilian areas.

Jewish Israelis have experienced two violent Palestinian Intifadas (1987–1993; 2001–2005), the second of which saw a wave of deadly suicide bombings and ambushes.

In response, Israel erected its Security Barrier, which has essentially eliminated Palestinian terrorist attacks but added further to the pain of Palestinian civilians.

Since the 1990s, there have been several failed attempts to negotiate a two-state solution.

Under Israel’s longest-serving prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, Jewish settlement in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, viewed as illegal by much of the world, accelerated — making any future talks even more difficult.

Second-class citizens

About 20 per cent of Israel’s citizenry is Arab. Unfortunately, Arab Israelis are largely treated as second-class citizens within the officially Jewish state.

The recent defeat of Netanyahu could help to address this — Israel now has a governing coalition that includes an Arab Israeli party.

Taking stock

By more than 1,000 years, “Israel” predates “Palestine.” The land then became home primarily to an Arab population, again for more than a millennium. Both Jews and Arabs thus have a legitimate claim to the land.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has seen myriad wrongs and brutalities on both sides. No act of vengeance, however extreme, could now allow one party to say that accounts had been settled on their side.

The only way forward is, somehow, to cease looking backwards.

In an inversion of the Nile’s transformation in the Bible, the rivers of blood spilled must become water under the bridge.

Water is life: 10 Ways to purify water when SHTF

    The original article : https://naturalnews.com/2019-06-03-ways-to-purify-water-when-shtf.html

(Natural News) Food and water are essential for your survival when SHTF. You can start a garden in your backyard and stockpile food in your pantry, but knowing how to find and purify water ensures that you have access to clean drinking water when disaster strikes. (h/t to UrbanSurvivalSite.com)

You also need water for your garden, doing the laundry, and dishwashing. Take the time to learn about these 10 different ways to purify water in both indoor and outdoor scenarios to avoid water shortages at home or in your bug-out location.

    1. Bleach

If you can’t boil water, use household bleach. You should use regular, unscented chlorine bleach products for disinfection and sanitization. Bleach labels may note that the product’s active ingredient contains at least six to 8.25 percent of sodium hypochlorite.

Never use color safe, scented, or bleaches with added cleaners. If water is cloudy, let it settle then filter it through a clean cloth, a coffee filter, or a paper towel.

When purifying water using bleach, add about eight to 16 drops of bleach per gallon of water. Adjust the amount of bleach depending on how cloudy the water is, then let the treated water sit for about half an hour.

Bleach will only eliminate living contaminants. Since bleach only has a shelf-life of about six months, it won’t be as effective at purifying water past its expiration date.

    2. Boiling

Boiling is one of the oldest methods of purifying water. Boiling water effectively eliminates all living contaminants – bacteria, parasites, protozoans, and viruses – within minutes. However, boiling doesn’t remove contaminants like chemicals and toxins from the water.

Water from a pristine mountain stream can be boiled before consumption, but water from a lake or river that collects runoff from cities will require a chemical water filter. Chemicals must be removed from water before boiling, otherwise, the chemicals will only become concentrated after the water is boiled.

Boiling is a sustainable water filtration method. With a source of heat and a fireproof vessel, you can easily boil water.

    3. Iodine

Iodine can also be added to water to make it safe to drink and to get rid of living contaminants. You’ll need twice as much iodine to purify water compared to bleach. Iodine is also more expensive.

Iodine does offer one advantage: Mineral-based iodine has an infinite shelf life. Stockpile iodine so you can purify drinking water when SHTF. Check guides to determine how to safely purify water using an iodine tincture.

    4. Purification tablets

Water purification tablets are another important addition to your survival stockpile. These tablets were designed to purify water, and they’re easy to find and relatively affordable.

Purification tablets contain ingredients like chlorine dioxide, sodium dichloroisocyanurate, and tetraglycine hydroperiodide. Some water purification tablets also contain iodine.

    5. Sand filtration

Using the right supplies, you can create a sand filter. Even though sand filtration can’t eliminate microbes, it can filter murky water to produce something safe to drink.

    6. Solar distillation

Distilling water can get rid of heavier substances like minerals and salt. This method is ideal for purifying salt water.

With a solar still, you can distill water. Distillation won’t get rid of contaminants like microbes so this method should be followed with boiling.

    7. Survival straws

High-quality survival straws are a convenient and effective method of purifying water. These straws are made of a very fine filter contained in a sturdy straw-like casing.

When you sip water through the straw, the liquid is passed through the filter and purified before it reaches your mouth.

    8. Water bottle filters

Water bottle filters and survival straws have similar filtration systems built into the drinking receptacle. But unlike the survival straw, water bottle filters already come with a container for your drinking water.

    9. Water filters

One of the most effective ways to purify water is to make use of a high-quality water filter. Water filters are available in different designs and sizes, so choose one based on your family’s needs. (Related: How to make your own homemade water filter.)

    10. Xylem filters

A xylem filter is simply and effectively designed, which makes it one of the most viable water purification methods for preppers in third-world countries.

To make a xylem filter, you need a piece of clean, flexible tubing, a chunk of pine (or other conifer wood), and a bit of glue. Peel the bark from the wood, then attach the piece of wood into the end of the tubing with glue stuck on it. This lets water pass through the tube, and the liquid is filtered through the wood.

A xylem filter can remove at least 99.9 percent of contaminants. This method does have one downside: It takes a long time to filter water this way.

Keep your survival stockpile full of foods with a long shelf life and learn about these water filtration methods to prevent dehydration when SHTF.

    Episode 1

    Do we “Get” him?

Most of us did not start our spiritual journey with a Torah-observant mindset — we had what Keith Johnson calls a “Jesus journey.” We learned the Jesus stories and the Jesus songs, but there’s a big difference between knowing about him and truly knowing him.

The truth is, we cannot truly understand his ministry or his message without first understanding his original, given name: Yeshua.

Why Not Jesus? with Keith Johnson stresses the importance of knowing the power and purpose of our Messiah’s name — because, without it, we will fall into the trap of creating our own “Jesus” and our own religion.

Mainstream marketing has been flooded with a multi-million-dollar campaign to promote the Messiah — but is it pointing to a savior that doesn’t exist? Keith Johnson explains why the “He Gets Us” campaign sends a misguided message based upon a false idea of “Jesus” and why the real question is: “Do we get Him?”

    Episode 2

    Where did “Jesus” come from?

Where did Yeshua’s name come from? Modern Christianity would have us believe it was unique, but it actually comes from the Torah! Keith Johnson explains how Yeshua’s name was politicized over the centuries to completely disassociate it from the language, history, and context of the Old Testament!

    Episode 3

    The Bethlehem Birth Certificate

Translators of many English Bibles put poison tricks into their translations in order to disconnect the English name “Jesus” from the Hebrew Yeshua. Keith Johnson reveals “the Bethlehem birth certificate” that forever solidifies Yeshua’s name with his mission.

    Episode 4

    Let Yeshua Speak!

Yeshua never spoke in his own name; he spoke only in the name of his Father. In this final episode, Keith Johnson shows us, using Yeshua’s own words, what the Messiah’s name really means, why it has so much power, and how his name was written in three different languages.

The post Was the Bible correct that pork is truly an unclean meat? appeared first on 10/40 Window Mission Network.

    ]]>
    The original article: https://naturalnews.com/043184_the_Bible_pork_unclean_meat.html

(NaturalNews) The Hebrew people have avoided pork and pig products as a dietary principle discussed in the Bible. Leviticus clearly states that pigs, because they do not chew their cud, are an unclean meat. Modern science has shown that pigs carry a very high toxic load making them unsafe for human consumption.

“And the pig, though it has a divided hoof, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.” Leviticus 11:7.

The Bible warns the Hebrews about unclean foods and the rationale for the uncleanliness. Pigs are dirty animals that ruthlessly scavenge anything they come into contact with on the farm. Not only are they known to consume food scraps, insects and their own feces, but they will also cannibalistically eat their own dead carcasses. They have been known to kill and eat their young at times as well.

Due to their scavenger lifestyle, they harbor enormous amounts of viruses and parasites. Pigs are known to be primary carriers of the following pathogenic organisms, which can create very serious health problems:

    • Taenia solium tapeworm
    • PRRS (Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome)
    • Nipah virus
    • Menangle virus
    • Hepatitis E virus (HEV)

A Consumer Reports investigation found that 69% of all raw pork samples tested were contaminated with high amounts of volatile microorganisms such as Yersinia enterocolitica. This bacteria causes fever and gastrointestinal stress and could potentially cause a fatal infection.

Why is pig meat so toxic:

Animals that “chew the cud” as it says in the Bible are called ruminants. These animals hardly chew their food when it is first swallowed. But they have four stomachs that digest and regurgitate food through a special process that allows complete digestion. The major ruminants are cows, sheep and goats.

The digestive system of a pig is unique in that it metabolizes food very quickly through one stomach in a process that takes about four hours. A cow takes 24 hours to digest what’s eaten, and it is able to get rid of excess toxins during the digestive process. The pig’s digestive system doesn’t allow for this, and the toxins are carried into the fat cells and organs of the pig itself.

Pigs also do not have sweat glands. Perspiration is a key method that the body uses for detoxification, and the pig is not designed to perspire. When we consume pig meat, we get all of these pathogenic microorganisms and environmental toxins into our system.

Pasture-fed pork products are much safer, but still, the animal is just not designed to eliminate toxins effectively. Many of these toxins are not neutralized even with high-heat cooking methods. High-heat cooking methods produce heterocyclic amine in the meat and damages much of the essential fats, which makes the pork, ham or bacon highly carcinogenic.

Was the Bible’s message to avoid consuming unclean meat necessary for reducing infection and chronic health problems? Based on the nature of pigs and the toxic load that they carry, it seems to be the best advice for optimal health.

After launching the 14-episode Scripture Bytes video series we have had many people ask if BFA could provide a biblical Hebrew course. I have to admit it is not an easy request to fulfill. Yet at the same time I am convinced it is the right thing to do because it is in line with the BFA International mission: Inspiring people around the world to build a biblical foundation for their faith.

As we progress, you will learn consonants, vowels, and basic grammar, but only as they apply to reading the selected biblical passage. By the end of the first lesson you will have read and understood a biblical verse in Hebrew. Guaranteed!

This innovative approach to learning the basics of biblical Hebrew can revolutionize your biblical studies and give you unprecedented access to the language, history, and context of the most important written text on earth! That’s enough for the introduction. Let’s get started!

Oh, I almost forgot. In this first level of study we are going to be reading straight from the Hebrew text of the Book of Jonah. I created a very short video from ancient Joppa to give you a little visual context. Check it out!

This is free but you will have to register for some of the options. All vidoes /audio are on their website: https://bfainternational.com/academy-posts/biblical-hebrew-audio-introduction/
